Massage has been around for thousands of years. It was and is still used in countries all over the world.
When you hurt yourself it's a natural instinct to "rub" the pain away.
Physicians used massage as the main way of healing and relieving pain.
Swedish physiologist "Per Henrik Ling" developed Swedish massage from his knowledge of physiology, gymnastics and Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Chinese massage techniques.
He combined these techniques to develop Swedish massage.
